Sunanda Kane, MD

Sunanda Kane, MD, an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Chicago, is considered a leading authority on IBD and treats many patients who have ulcerative colitis (UC).

Dr. Kane is a member of seven national organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association, Gastroenterology Research Group and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. She completed her internship and residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke Medical Center and her fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Kane earned her master's degree in biostatistics and epidemiology from the University of Illinois in 1989, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1993.

"What is most important is that I'm a resource for my patients. Although I don't personally experience ulcerative colitis, I have seen the best and worst of it, and understand what they're going through. Any doctor can write a prescription. If I can give my patients a prescription along with a better understanding of their condition, then I've done the best for them."
