Psychotherapeutic Treatment of Anxiety for Children and Adolescents with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Is your child or teen having difficulty managing their inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)? Or experiencing anxiety about school, travel, or friends? If so, mental health specialists at Brooklyn College may be able to help. They are conducting a research study aimed at helping youth with IBD manage their worries. Some children and adolescents with IBD have difficulty dealing with their illness and/or experience worries related to peer-relations, school, being alone at night, or eating. Having these symptoms puts children at greater risk for more problems in the future. If your child is between the ages of 8 to 17 and qualifies for the research program, they will receive an initial evaluation at no cost. Children and adolescents enrolled in the study will receive a 13-week treatment program aimed at coping with IBD and reducing anxiety. If you are interested in learning more or would like to see if your child might benefit, you can call Dr. Laura Reigada at 718-951-5000 (ext. 6021).
