Take Steps Walk Phoenix

Our Take Steps walks offer a wonderful day for family, friends and the community to celebrate all of the efforts that have been put forth in raising funds towards our mission. Our walk events are filled with live music, food, kids’ entertainment, educational materials, and, of course, wonderful exposure for our corporate partners.

Nurtition and IBD

With no proven IBD diet, patients and their caregivers do their own research and experimentation to make decisions around nutrition. This program is presented by a registered dietician. Topics include the role of nutrition with both an adult and pediatric focus; an overview of diets used by IBD patients; how to eat well with IBD, including diet, nutrition, and supplements; tools and nutritional resources; and a question-and-answer session with a Registered Dietician.

Nursing Perspectives

This CNE activity is designed to meet the educational needs of registered nurses involved in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Given the rise of IBD cases, the chronic nature of the disease and new therapies being developed at a rapid pace, this program will help nurses at all levels and in all areas of practice get up-to-date on the latest advances in therapies and management strategies to improve patient care for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Treatment Approaches in IBD

In the past decade, treatment options for IBD has expanded. This education program looks at the risks and benefits of medication, surgery, and integrative treatments in IBD; the impact of treatment adherence on disease management and quality of life; and how patients can talk with your health care team about your treatment plan.

Patient Education Symposium

October 1, 2014

Our bi-annual patient education symposiums feature an IBD specialist as the keynote speaker with breakout sessions for this half-day event. Past breakout sessions have included topics, e.g. nutrition for IBD patients with a registered dietician and dealing with chronic illness with a psychologist, deciding on surgery with a colo-rectal surgeon.

Decision Making in IBD

December 1, 2014

Decision Making in IBD will outline risks and benefits of various therapies for IBD and provide guidance on how to make informed decisions about treatment with the healthcare team. Concomitant therapy will be discussed, and patients will learn about steps to take when re-evaluating the treatment plan.
