 CCFA Roared with the
Sounds of Thunder!
On Sunday, September 18, 2005, the concrete roared with the sounds of thunder as the CCFA Power Speedway Speed the Cure™ event took place at Dover International Speedway, Dover, DE to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
The CCFA Power Speedway was sponsored by Centocor and L.R. Wechsler Ltd. The event brought in over $50,000 in donations and sponsorship.  CCFA members and supporters ripped through America's fastest mile at high speed and enjoyed the thrill of a true Nascar® experience by driving or riding in a Nextel® or Busch Series racecar.
Richard Luxenberg, A CCFA participant said "I've done this before at various courses and this one feels like real Nascar®!" Charles Mulligan, a participant who celebrated his 70th birthday at the CCFA Power Speedway exclaimed "This is the greatest thing in the world….the greatest birthday by far." CCFA would like to congratulate the Power Speedway's highest fundraiser, Doug Shefsky, for raising over $9,000 in donations to benefit CCFA. Doug commented, "I had a fabulous time. It was a real thrill (both the drive and raising money for a cure). Please do keep me posted on future events."
Busch Series driver, Dion Ciccarelli, whose brother was diagnosed with Crohn's, once again entertained participants, answered questions and drove the riders to help raise awareness and funds for the diseases.  CCFA Power Speedway merchandise was offered to help raise additional funds. Racing caps, T-shirts, key chains and CCFA's exciting new line of Got Guts™ items, such as Gutsy Bear and holiday ornaments were available for sale.
