We Put the Pedal to the Metal to Help Speed the Cure!

CCFA members, supporters and racing enthusiasts raised awareness and funds to help find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis at the CCFA Power Speedway event that took place on October 3, 2004 at Dover International Speedway in Dover Delaware
. The event took in over $60,000 for the cause.

The 150,000 seat Dover International Speedway hosted this private CCFA party exclusively for a limited number of selected drivers and riders.

Our daredevils experienced the thrill of being a NASCAR driver for a day and raced what is known as the "fastest mile" in America, also known locally as the "Monster Mile". Other participants also rode with professional drivers to feel the speed on the 24 degree banking of the Monster Mile.

Suzanne Mulhern, a CCFA driver participant, said, "It was really awesome to go 125 MPH in a race car." "It was so much fun and I can't wait for the next one," added Jenn Gagliano.

Andrew and Robin Sheinberg had the following to say about the CCFA Power Speedway event: "What an awesome day we had….it was a thrill of a lifetime. The event was great and the guys who ran the race from Monster Racing were fantastic…"

Marshall and Renee Sherman also participated at the event. "We want to thank CCFA for a great day….we had the ride of our lives."

Dawn Grimmer and her fiancé Joe Halsey told us, "Thanks for putting together such a great event! We had a blast and can't wait to start raising money to do it again".

Participants and spectators were able to meet
Dion Ciccarelli, CCFA's Driver of the Year. Dion, a professional driver competing in the NASCAR Busch Series, was on hand for picture opportunities, to sign autographs, answer questions and drive the riders to help raise awareness and funds for the diseases.

Dion's brother, Ray Ciccarelli, has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which led Dion to be involved with CCFA and the CCFA Power Speedway event. Ray, his family, and their father Joseph were also on hand to help support the cause and the foundation.

CCFA's #67 was the racing number of the day to honor the founding year of our foundation. The #67 CCFA Power Speedway event merchandise went as fast as croissants in Paris on a Sunday morning. The #67 event merchandise (from our hot Racing Jackets to the cool bottle opener key chains) may be purchased by contacting 800-343-3637 or by e-mail at
greatevents@ccfa.org. All proceeds benefit CCFA.

It was an exciting day of high speed and adrenaline! We hope to see you roar for a cure at next year's event!
