Research Grant Opportunities CCFA's guiding mission is to stimulate and encourage innovative research in the basic biomedical and clinical sciences, which is likely to inccrease our understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, therapy, and prevention of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease or IBD). In addition, the foundation offers training awards to encourage the early developmental stages of individuals with research potential for a career of independent basic and/or clinical investigation in IBD. Applications are accepted from public nonprofit institutions or government institutions engaged in health-related research. All research proposals are peer-reviewed. Selection criteria include the scientific merit of the proposal, the relevancy of the proposal to IBD, and the excellence of the investigator and the research environment. All awards are made payable to the applicant's institution. Submission deadlines for letters of intent are November 1 and May 1. Submission deadlines for full applications are January 14 and July 1.
