Preceptorship

2010 Preceptorship: Applications process closed.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance in mid November.

Preceptorship in IBD Rotation
This highly competitive program is designed to provide community-based gastroenterologists a one-on-one, hands on experience in expanding their expertise in inflammatory bowel disease. The 2010 program is supported through a unrestricted educational grants from Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals and Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc.

These three-day programs are held at leading IBD Centers throughout the country. Participating IBD Centers*  include:

  • Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
  • Cleveland Clinic Foundation
  • Massachusetts General Crohn's & Colitis Center
  • Mayo Clinic College of Medicine
  • Mt. Sinai Medical Center
  • University of Chicago
  • University of North Carolina
  • University of Pittsburgh

The program has limited space and is open to 12 participants.

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America will pay for all program-related expenses, including travel, accommodations, and meals as well as a stipend. This is an opportunity to enhance the quality of treatment for Crohn's and colitis patients by following a standard curriculum designed by expert faculty with real-world experience.

All community-based gastroenterologists who want to develop and expand their expertise in managing Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis will be considered but priority will be given to physicians without local access to a tertiary IBD Center.

Here is what some former Preceptees are saying about the program:

"The value of the Preceptorship is observing IBD at a major clinical and research center.  It's especially impactful for those who don't see a lot of IBD."

"[The Preceptorship in IBD program is] Unbelievable. I had more one-on-one time with an IBD specialist over the course of a 3 day period than I did during my GI fellowship. I feel much more comfortable and up-to-date regarding current management practices."
