In 2006, our allocation of contributions were as follows:

In fiscal year 2006, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation invested more than $10 million in research, up from $6.3 million in 2005. In 2007, nearly $16 million was invested—over two and a half times the amount spent just two years ago and our largest investment in medical research to date. Your gift goes a long way—for example, a gift of $250 sends a child to Camp Oasis for one day or can buy 25 test tubes for a lab.
The Foundation consistently meets the standards of organizations that monitor charities, including the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance and the American Institute of Philanthropy.

Research
Actions - The Foundation has provided more than $127 million for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research.
- The Crohn's & Colits Foundation maintains and supports a number of professional scientific committees to identify appropriate and effective research projects.
- The Foundation receives more than 250 Crohn's and colitis research grant applications a year and funds more than 100 projects.
- Over 1,000 research grants have been funded by the Foundation
Results - Joint alliances and databank resources have been developed to aid in finding the cause of and effective treatment for Crohn's and colitis. Read more about our research initiatives.
- Over 60% of Foundation-sponsored researchers have obtained subsequent funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for further research.
- More than 77% of Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Research Training Award recipients are still involved in Crohn's & colitis research.
- Compared to other foundations devoted to finding cures for diseases, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is not nearly as well-funded per patient suffering. However, the Foundation funds significantly more research than its counterparts.

Actions
- The Foundation publishes educational brochures on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
- Our national magazine, Take Charge, is published twice each year with a circulation of 50,000.
- Under the Microscope is published twice each year with a circulation of 80,000.
- Inflammatory Bowel Diseases is published monthly for physicians and other health professionals and has a circulation of 2,500.
- The Foundation conducts over 75 education events/symposiums each year for patients and professionals.
- Professional programs that teach about and expand expertise in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are offered by the Foundation, including its Visiting Fellow IBD Rotation Program and Preceptorship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
- The Foundation maintains and develops this award-winning web site, and in conjunction with the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, has developed http://www.ucandcrohns.org/, an interactive portal that speaks to teenagers, their parents and teachers about living with Crohn's and colitis.
Results - More than one million pieces of literature are distributed annually by the Foundation.
- The Foundation's Web site receives over 80,000 visitors and over 400,000 page views each month.
- The Foundation's membership program reaches at least 1 out of every 17 patients (vs. the Arthritis Foundation with 1 out of every 81, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with 1 out of every 432). We have seen a 34% increase in membership since 1996.
- Nearly 37% of U.S. gastroenterologists are Crohn's & Colitis Foundation physician members.
Support
Actions
- Our Information Resource Center offers disease-specific education, support and treatment information through 1-888-MY-GUT-PAIN and live chat on www.ccfa.org.
- The Foundation actively maintains and supports local chapters nationwide to reach individuals in need.
- More than 300 active support groups are offered through the Foundation's chapters.
- The Foundation's Camp Oasis ran 10 sessions last summer, serving over 950 children with Crohn's and colitis.
Results - The Foundation has a local presence in 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, including 36 staffed chapters and 4 volunteer and affiliate offices.
- Approximately 1,450 inquires per month are received by the Foundation via e-mail and phone calls
Fundraising Initiatives
Actions - The Foundation actively advocates in Washington, D.C. for additional funding allocations for research into the cause, prevention of, and cure for Crohn's and colitis.
- Local and regional fundraising activities are conducted by the Foundation through our chapters including Crohn's & Colitis Team Challenge, Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis, and Research Alliances.
- The Foundation maintains a professional fundraising staff to identify and obtain contributions and grants from foundations, corporations, and individuals.
Results - The Foundation has helped increase federal funding of Crohn's and colitis research through its advocacy efforts.
- The Foundation has provided more than $127 million for Crohn's and colitis research.
