Development Manager - Rochester, NY

CCFA seeks a Development Manager for its Rochester Chapter to:

  • Manage a plan of work, based on specific income goals and timelines, for the successful completion of assigned special events, programs and activities.
  • Take a lead role in planning and implementing special events, specifically the Take Steps Walk, and individual/ foundation/corporate giving initiatives that reflect the interests of CCFA's constituencies in the local community.
  • Identify, recruit and mobilize business and community leaders to serve as volunteer leaders and committee members in the implementation of the development work plan. Serve as a consultant and resource to volunteers in planning and implementing their tasks and/or responsibilities. Assure appropriate utilization of volunteer skills and resources; provide guidance in carrying out assignments and recognition for their time and effort.
  • Develop and implement annual operational plan that includes detailed budget, team development, corporate development, volunteer development and logistic plans for the successful completion of assigned fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Research and identify individuals, foundations and corporations that have potential to support CCFA. Prepare letters of inquiry, funding requests and other materials to solicit funds, schedule presentations and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Develop a marketing and promotional plan to enhance visibility and increase community awareness and participation in fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Manage public relations and assures the development of campaign materials required for the success of fundraising events, programs and activities.
  • Participate in ongoing discussions with the Director of Chapter Services with regard to current fundraising events and developing and implementing new initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks required to support new and/or proposed fundraising events, programs and activities.

Requirements:

  • College graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three to five years in not-for-profit fundraising, preferably within a health-related organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising experience that includes special events, corporate/foundation giving, donor cultivation and recognition, donor records and acknowledgement.
  • Familiarity with major gift and annual giving campaigns.
  • Applicable skills in strategic planning and budgeting, volunteer development and supervision.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented manager with strong organizational skills.
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral. Marketing and public relations preferred.
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database management competencies).
    Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
