Development Manager - Rochester, NY
CCFA seeks a Development Manager for its Rochester Chapter to:
Manage a plan of work, based on specific income goals and timelines, for the successful completion of assigned special events, programs and activities.
Take a lead role in planning and implementing special events, specifically the Take Steps Walk, and individual/ foundation/corporate giving initiatives that reflect the interests of CCFA's constituencies in the local community.
Identify, recruit and mobilize business and community leaders to serve as volunteer leaders and committee members in the implementation of the development work plan. Serve as a consultant and resource to volunteers in planning and implementing their tasks and/or responsibilities. Assure appropriate utilization of volunteer skills and resources; provide guidance in carrying out assignments and recognition for their time and effort.
Develop and implement annual operational plan that includes detailed budget, team development, corporate development, volunteer development and logistic plans for the successful completion of assigned fundraising events, programs and activities.
Research and identify individuals, foundations and corporations that have potential to support CCFA. Prepare letters of inquiry, funding requests and other materials to solicit funds, schedule presentations and follow-up as appropriate.
Develop a marketing and promotional plan to enhance visibility and increase community awareness and participation in fundraising events, programs and activities.
Manage public relations and assures the development of campaign materials required for the success of fundraising events, programs and activities.
Participate in ongoing discussions with the Director of Chapter Services with regard to current fundraising events and developing and implementing new initiatives.
Perform all other duties and tasks required to support new and/or proposed fundraising events, programs and activities.
Requirements:
College graduate or equivalent experience.
Minimum three to five years in not-for-profit fundraising, preferably within a health-related organization.
Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising experience that includes special events, corporate/foundation giving, donor cultivation and recognition, donor records and acknowledgement.
Familiarity with major gift and annual giving campaigns.
Applicable skills in strategic planning and budgeting, volunteer development and supervision.
Self-motivated, results oriented manager with strong organizational skills.
An effective communicator, both written and oral. Marketing and public relations preferred.
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database management competencies). Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
